Annual Travel Survey

As a key part of your estate getting planning permission, we are required to undertake annual travel surveys to monitor how you as residents choose to get from A-B.

When a survey is available you can access it here.

It should take less than 5 minutes and one lucky winner will receive a £25 Amazon voucher!

Local Facilities

There are many facilities within the local area, many of which can be accessed on foot or by cycle. The image below provides you with a snapshot of the facilities within a 2km radius of your home. Most notably, Hanslope Village Centre is only a short walk or cycle from the site, along Long Street Road.

This interactive map shows some of the interesting and useful places you might wish to visit.

Have a look at this national footpath map, it might give you ideas where to have a ramble.

Cycling

Did you know?

As part of the national cycle scheme initiative, primarily implemented to encourage cycling to work, your employer may be eligible to provide you with an employee benefit that saves you 25- 39% on a bike and accessories! You pay nothing upfront and the payments are taken tax efficiently from your salary by your employer. Visit the following website to learn more; https://www.cyclescheme.co.uk

Cycling has many benefits

It is direct and provides a complete transport solution from A-B. It is not constrained by timetables or ‘mass journey routes’ as public transport is and inherently provides a bespoke transport mode. Additionally, it incorporates a good level of exercise within the commute.

Handslope has plenty of public rights of way and bridleways crossing the beautiful country to encourage pedestrian activity and a National Cycle Network passing right through Hanslope connecting from Milton Keynes to Derby.

Click on the map to see where you could get to using public transport in only 1 hour! You will be surprised at all your options.

Bus travel offers numerous benefits, making it an ideal transportation option. Firstly, buses are cost-effective, often cheaper than other modes of transport. Secondly, they reduce traffic congestion and pollution by carrying a large number of passengers. Moreover, bus travel provides a comfortable experience with amenities such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and comfortable seats!

Trains

The closest train station to your home is Wolverton, located approximately 4 miles south. The station is located on the West Coast Main Line, with direct services north and south to locations including:

Milton Keynes- 5 minutes

Northampton- 12 Minutes

London can be reached in 45 Minutes

If you make the same train journey on 3 or more days within a week a season ticket is likely to offer better value than daily tickets. Season tickets are valid for 7 consecutive days or for any period from a calendar month up to a year. A passport sized photograph is required for a photo card, which must be carried at all times when travelling. Season tickets can be purchased at any staffed station.

To calculate the cost of a season ticket for a journey, use the Calculator tool at www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/ticket_types/season_tickets.aspx

Car Sharing

Sharing a journey by car with a friend, family member or work colleague will save money on fuel and running costs for your vehicle and will also reduce traffic on the roads and thereby reduce congestion and pollution. Car sharing can be an informal arrangement where friends and neighbours offer to give each other a lift to work or leisure activities.

There are also formal organisations that facilitate car sharing for those people looking for a lift or willing to provide a lift to other likeminded people, not necessarily known to them. These organised car sharing schemes can be extremely successful in connecting people to share car trips.

Driving Tips

Eco Driving explanation and Tips

Fuel consumption plays a big part in which car you buy. Official MPG figures are typically not reliable so its down to the driver to maximize the efficiency of the vehicle with their driving style. This can be achieved by regular maintenance and adapting your driving techniques for optimal consumption. Not only does this save you money but it will also help to reduce your carbon footprint.

The AA provides some eco driving tips on its website: why not take a look here?

Working from home

Have you considered continuing to work from home on a full or part time basis?

The Wheatfields has access to broadband speeds of up to around 67Mb, more than adequate for most people to be able to work from home comfortably!

Working from home has a whole host of advantages, such as: higher productivity, reduced carbon footprint, a better work-life balance and many more!

Parking on drives and not pavements

We encourage all residents to park responsibly. If drive space is available, it would be of great help if vehicles are parked off-street. This makes it much easier for those with pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters to navigate the development. It also prevents any accidental damage to your vehicle from passers-by.
